Highway 281 Bridge

Burnet County

Marble Falls, Texas

History

This bridge's predecessor, built in 1891, was destroyed by the June 1935 flood. But onlookers defied the flood, racing across the bridge moments before a 40-foot wall of water swept it away. The city operated a ferry until this 991-foot bridge was completed in 1937. This bridge was replaced and demolished March 17th 2013.
