Wooden Railroad Trestle Bridge

History

The original trestle was built over the South Fork of the San Gabriel River in 1882 to haul granite to build the state Capitol. In 1886, a train took a curve too quickly, dumping the granite blocks shown in the photo. Today, the Hill Country Flyer (seen here) uses the route for its weekly trips out of Cedar Park.
